Buena Vista University seeks applicants for Assistant Professor of Choral Music, Tenure-track. Starting date: Fall 2013. Duties include:
Directing the Concert and Chamber Choirs, teaching undergraduate courses related to K-12 teacher preparation in music education, vocal
diction, conducting, private voice and music history. Qualification requirements: Master of Music/Music Education or Doctorate in
Music/Music Education; doctorate in hand strongly preferred and required for tenure except in case of other exceptional professional
accomplishments. Seeking a dynamic teacher and musician with good performance skills to provide leadership in music education, someone who
can bring imagination and creativity to the continued development of a successful program. A minimum of five years of exemplary K-12 music
teaching experience is expected. We seek candidates with the commitment and demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with
both internal and outside partners, including public/private schools and professional music organizations, and with the demonstrated
potential to contribute effectively to the music faculty team to creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Additional
expectations will be to work with the music faculty and Admissions in recruiting student participation and music majors to the program.
Buena Vista University offers music degrees in Instrumental and Vocal performance, Instrumental and Vocal Music Education, Arts Management
in Music, and Studio Production/Technology.

We are looking for candidates who are excited to work in a Midwestern setting at a financially sound small liberal arts college. Buena Vista University, with an enrollment of 1000 full-time residential students, is located on the shores of Storm Lake in the ethnically diverse rural community of Storm Lake, IA.
