Catholic Church to voice 'concern' over Civil Code reform at Congress

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Monsignor Jos? Mar?a Arancedo, chairman of the national Episcopate. qualified the rent of womb as "an insult to women's dignity," during the public hearing led by the bicammeral committee for the reform of the Civil and Penal Codes held at Congress.

Arancedo ratified the concern of several bishops over certain issues of the reform, particularly those regarding the safeguarding of families and lives to come, as well as those of children.

Regarding the assisted human reproduction, he assured that "not everything that's technicly possible in life is ethic and respects its dignity" and thaat "there are severe ethical and judicial objections over the artificial insemination."

?We see that the rights of adults are over the rights of children in the reform,? senior press officer the Episcopate, Jorge Oesterheld told reporters on Wednesday.

The Catholic Church had already publically expressed concerned over the Civil Code reform, stressing the fact that ?there?s no urgency in such important topic, especially when they jeopardize the legal structure of society.?
